To be very frank, BRAVEN is a new brand for me. When I introduce a new brand, first I see the Company profile. In my personal business experience, a manufacturing Company is most important for electronic products. The Braven LC is a mobile device accessories company, they designs, manufactures and sells portable Bluetooth Speaker devices for mobile consumers across the world. The company manufactures portable HD Speaker devices/Speaker device phones, including rugged wireless Speaker devices for sport, travel, around the house, and outdoor experiences.

A shoulder strap is included for convenient hands-free carrying. Much of the Speaker device’s weight can be attributed to the solid construction, four HD drivers (two on either side), down-firing subwoofer, and large size 15,600 mAh internal batteries.
About BRAVENBRV-XXL
The BRAVENBRV-XXL is certified IPX5 rated which means it is splash-proof, dustproof & sand proof making it an ideal companion for an outdoor party such as pool parties and beach parties, or wherever splashes or spills might befall. Thick silicone feet keep the bottom of the Speaker device raised up while a bit of damping when the tunes are totally cranked up. The BRAVEN BRV-XXL is a thoughtful addition that works equally well for Smartphone or tablets, in either landscape or portrait orientation. The onboard controls are simple, offering levels of adjustment for volume, bass, and treble.
The power button sequences between the three, as a series of eight back-lit LEDs, glow blue to represent the current settings. There are no track controls on the BRAVEN BRV-XXL, so command over music needs to be done by devices through Bluetooth connection or the 3.5 mm auxiliary jack.
A microphone input transforms the Speaker device into a portable PA system, while a USB port charges devices at a standard 5 V / 1 A rate. The BRAVEN BRV-XXL has lacked that, there is no Speaker device functionality for fielding hands-free phone calls, but user can boost user voice with the 3.5 microphone input to ensure that user voice is heard.

- Average midrange
- Average Bluetooth range
Design
The BRV-XXL / 2 are actually portable Speaker device, but it is in the category of heavy, tank-like portable Speaker devices designed to produce serious audio firepower. Measuring 9 by 22 by 9 inches, this Speaker device weighs 17.4 pounds. Its IPX 5-rated exterior can withstand low-pressure water spray, so light rain and splashes won’t affect it, but don’t try to float it in a pool or spray it with a garden hose. Internally, audio is provided by 4 full-range 15-watt drivers, 1 down-firing 40-watt subwoofer and dual-passive radiators.
At the top of the Speaker device is a solid built-in handle that connects the ends of the handle with a detachable shoulder strap. In the left panel, the Flip-Out Bottle Opener is powered by rubberized buttons for linking volume, adding power, adding, and play, pause or call management. There are three buttons labeled Volume, Bass and Treble, and selecting one allows user to adjust the EQ or Volume – the white LED tells user what user are adjusting to. This is a good thing, because the buttons in the all-black design are a little harder to see.
Display
It is possible to adjust the bass and treble, and the descriptions below are with neutral default settings. On tracks with intense sub-bass content, such as The Knife’s “Silent Shout”, the BRV-XXL / 2 provides a low-frequency response with thunder. At absolute maximum volume, the lows on the track cause a slight distortion, not ideal for this price, but dialing up the volume also provides a little solution, and the Speaker device is too loud to start with, so we don’t see it as a deal breaker. At moderate to high volume levels, the bass here is powerful, but does not eat the entire mix; there is also a good high-frequency presence here.
What is in the box?

- Charger adapter cords for international travel

Audio Performance: With a Speaker device of this size and weight user’s assume it would be far louder than smaller, yet still more imposing, Speaker devices like the JBL Extreme or UE Mega boom.
The BRAVEN BRV-XXL may compare its sound with the Aiwa Exos-9 or Sonos Play: 5, but the Sonos Play: 5 have no Bluetooth connectivity option. The sound performance of the BRAVEN BRV-XXL Speaker device is jaw-dropping loud.
It expands HD audio driver’s produces massive volume without any distortion, and the sound feels very clean and crystal clear. The sound quality is excellent, with very crisp highs, well-defined midrange and booming bass that fills up the entire space with a rich and punchy low-end.
The Speaker device also comes with built-in bass and treble controls for EQ sound customization which makes it easy to adjust the sound according to user musical preferences. It’s not as if user needs to crank up the bass to the max to get a low-end rumble from this Speaker device.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Powerful audio output with adaptable bass and treble
- Built-in bottle-opener
Cons
- Expensive
- Booming, bass-forward sound signature not for everyone
Conclusion
The BRAVEN BRV-XXL is a fascinating mix of sound quality, power back-up, and portability. Great frequency response from the onboard subwoofer, and for the vast common of music out there, offers a fantastic low-frequency balance to user music.
It’s loud enough to fill a large room or over the splashing of a pool party. But the BRAVEN BRV-XXL Speaker device is neither very portable nor the best-sounding wireless Speaker device user can get for the money. Volume isn’t everything, of course.
Audio fidelity is very particular, and what some consider acceptable quality, others do not. Without delving into my complete background in audio, I will just give user a concise and relevant story: I know the difference between good and bad. This Speaker device sounds absolutely more than average.
