Ever since the release of its precursor, the JBL Pulse has amazed wireless Bluetooth Speaker devices world, showing they know how to kick it up a score and convert given that music into a shared participation with its LED light display.

Nowadays JBL is showing there’s power in the development, attractive an indication for what the fans asked for with audio upgrades, a longer battery life, the adding of a Speaker phone device, and the advanced sensor that can ‘read’ colors around user. The Pulse 2 added passive radiators that do a decent job of beefing up the low-end for increases on the bass response of its precursor. The audio is crisp, full, and does not misrepresent.

Design

We are clarifying details about design through this review. The JBL Pulse 2 Bluetooth Speaker device features a very impressive design. Its measurements are 7.6 x 3.3 inch (Height and width), and 1.7-pound cylindrical design weighted stocks drivers and an LED system under the nearly 360-degree splash-proof grille.

Control panel & USB + Aux port

Passive bass radiators are located on the top and bottom panels of the Speaker device, have a rubberized finish which wraps around the spine of the back of the Speaker device. Its cylindrical in shape like a larger soda can.

The front of the Speaker device there is the orange JBL logo square near the bottom, and the JBL Prism Color Sensor Lens button placed near the top back. The rest of the Speaker device is made of a black mesh material where the customizable light show shines through. A thin control panel is that hold onto the grille from wrapping entirely around the limits of the Speaker device.

Onto the thin control panel, user will find a light sensor, the Power button, and buttons for Bluetooth pairing, Light Show mode, Volume control which works in combination with user device’s master volume, Connect mode for pairing two Pulse Speaker devices, and a Play/Pause button that also manage phone call’s control.

A snap-shut section below the controls lines the micro USB charging port and a 3.5mm aux input. The covered port and finish of the Speaker device make it splash-proof, and user can even rinse it off under the tap should user spill something on it. There is no 3.5mm audio cable is included with the Speaker device.

The JBL Pulse 2 fancy LED light show

The LED light show precedes the physical design to another level. The LED show is actually an attention grabber, but it is a well-executed one. The lights dance in several prospective patterns, it can frequently give the impression that the light is moving in sync with the audio.

The Pulse 2 can even effort to caricaturist a color in front of user pressing the Light button in front of a dark blue wall, for example, can make the color pattern shift to blues.

JBL claim battery life at around 10 hours, but user results will vary depending on user volume levels and whether user are streaming music contrasted with listening to it wired.

Users can easily link the two Pulse 2 Speaker devices wirelessly to play the same music on user mobile device this is achieved via the free JBL Connect app. Users can link up two Speaker devices for an indoor party.

Color Sensor Lens button

Dissimilar with the JBL Xtreme, which we also lately reviewed, the JBL Pulse 2 can sit on one of the ends which houses one of the external passive radiators. While there was a very slight sound difference when the Speaker device was held horizontally compared to when it was standing on a flat surface, it wasn’t enough to detract from the listening experience and user really had to listen for it closely.

Sound Quality:

In this JBL Pulse 2 speaker device reviews, presenting all information regarding sound quality. Many of the smaller Bluetooth Speaker devices have a tendency to overpay compensation for their small size by pumping out spilling over amounts of bass. The end result is that the bass often sounds overstuffed and inaccurate as the Speaker devices over spreading themselves.

However, the digital signal processor (DSP) does toggle the frequencies as the Speaker device gets overloaded with music from more difficult tracks. It principally ratchets back definite frequencies and confining the Speaker device’s volume.

The sound isn’t perfect like monitoring Speaker device, but as a small portable inexpensive Speaker device, it sounds pretty darn good and loud. The Pulse 2 has an amazingly good bass response as a Speaker device of its size.

When turning the volume up we expected to hear some misrepresentation in the bass department, but the little Speaker device ruled itself in nicely.
Bass was reliably in depth and full sounding and this is partially due to the digital processing within the Speaker device.

The Speaker device also displayed very good mid-range and treble response. Both were sound detailed and crisp. Vocals really are good at on the JBL Pulse 2 as the small Speaker device surprisingly giving realistic vocal performances.

This Pulse 2 is comparable to the Charge 2+ in terms of performance, and is among the best sounding compact Bluetooth Speaker devices, with decent bass for its size and good detail. It is easily fit in a small bag for carrying. JBL Pulse 2 is one of the better sounding Bluetooth Speaker devices user’ll find on the market.

And as a final point, user can wirelessly link two of these Speaker devices together to expand the sound if user has two of them.

The original Pulse was fun to look at but came up a little short in the sound department. The Pulse 2 not only looks good but sounds good too.
